Looks more like a bull to me.
Where are you guys finding all these obscure objects?

I guess it’s the somewhat corkscrew appearance which simulates a pig's tail.

LDN792 (Vul) The Pigtail Nebula? or What? - OSC 2.8 hours
Imaged this Monday morning after the moon set with the 155. Does it really look like a pigs tail? Not sure for me.

Excellent thread, Ladies and Gentlemen!
There have been many excellent ideas and facts presented. I will add one point that hasn't been made yet. Color matters. Do not wear dark clothing. Don't

Christopher, all great points and I too echo Len's comments about the collateral damage of widespread spraying. We're semi-commercial beekeepers so we don't need our property fogged with insecticides

I like the fan idea too and agree with Emilio that they shouldn't be pointed at the equipment. A fan would have the added benefit of making it a little cooler. Here in Southeast Texas, it is basically

Len brings up good points. I'm never big on widespread and broad action insecticides for the same reason - that they likely do more overall damage than short term good. Thankfully I understand that

I wonder if a “bait” station would work or help a bit? You could try a bucket of water with some dry ice added to it, the evaporating CO2 will attract them, but whether it’s enough or

Re: NGC6914, Vdb131,Vdb132 Nebula complex in Cygnus - OSC 9.5 hours
Stuart, that's how I did it.
I try to keep things pretty simple. Lots of Ha in the RGB shot anyway, but using the narrow band Ha channel as a luminance channel enhanced some detail in the normal RGB

John, this is a super fascinating image!! LOVE IT!
This specialized filter has TWO bandpasses for Ha and OIII? So you put this in front of the OSC to get the two main NB frequencies and add them to
