I haven't seen a Teflon tape suggesting in this thread actually. Plastic wrap was suggested, but that would add static to an already static heavy environment. Plus, it just isn't a very elegant

It seems to me that your imaging/guiding ratio is perfectly fine without the Barlow. But, if you want to play with the numbers here is a good tool:

You will be fine without a barlow at those relative image scales
it's when you get above 3:1 that it gets dicey, and i would not go above 4:1

Thanks Brian, I will be using a QHY600M camera. Here are both scope and guidescope potential image scales....

0.74 arc seconds per pixel at FL 1050mm

what is the imagescale on your imaging setup? if you go with the smaller pixel QHY it's possible your image scale on the guidescope may be close enough that it works for you without a

Guideascope question
I use the 10x60 Vario-Finder as a guidescope(FL is 250mm) on an AP-140 (FL 1050).
Would it be practical to put a 2X barlow into the "guidescope"?
the camera options available to me are QHY5-III178
