After what had to be the cloudiest July and August in 20 years here in the NE, September has turned out to be the opposite (so far) with numerous clear and transparent nights during the new Moon period. This allowed me to capture five targets with the AP92.  First up is the IC1396 region.  90 x 2min, modified Canon 6D.

Thanks Chris! I agree, the H-Alpha really makes it work. Otherwise pretty drab (other than pretty stars).

This is almost a snapshot compared to the previous Sharpless objects I posted.

15x20min H-Alpha - a mere 5 hours!
12/6/6x10min RGB
AP155/MoravianG4/ParamountMX

With only six subs in Green and Blue it was noisier than I wished and even the h-alpha, needing to be stretched HARD, was noisy. The h-alpha version below the HaRGB has been further processed vs. what was used in the composite. So it might look a little overly smoothed.

Comments / critiques welcome and appreciated as always!

Off-the-shelf adapters for Stowaway flattener

KHursh

I received my Stowaway yesterday (hooray) and while I am aware of precise parts, I was wondering if adapters exist for the 92FF. I have found a 2.7" to m68 male adapter, but bizarrely I cannot find a female m68 to m48 anywhere. In a perfect world, a straight 2.7" to m48 would exist so I could cut out the M68 middleman, but that is too much to ask. I am annoyed by the time it takes for precise parts and their customer service is not quite up to AP standards. I'm sure the quality is great, but $175 for a simple adapter?

Thanks Rolando,

I was pretty happy for a galaxy test shot at the new dark site. I just took a stab at exposures etc.

I am happy to report that nothing else was damaged in the rain. Mount, computer, camera(s), focuser, etc... all checked out ok.  Just the lens cell suffered and I know that will be in good hands soon.

Rain sensor on its way from spain!

Ok Steve and all stargazers, here's the real deal! Aliens from a small sol sized star in the little known spiral galaxy PGC 2119063...
On a mission to share technology and more to other humanoid life forms. Watch the movie to learn the secret handshake!
I can say no more, but you won't need a telescope mount anymore!

new mounting bracket available for Eagle 6" pier

Edited

Hi all,

I was looking for a solution to attaching my NUC to my A-P Eagle Pier and couldn't find any brackets that would fit the Eagle.  However, buckeyestargzer.net is now shipping a bracket designed specifically for the Eagle and I'm happy to report that it fits like a glove!  See attached pics.  Thought I would mention to the group in case any others have been looking for a solution to this problem.

Here's a link: https://buckeyestargazer.net/Store/MiniPC

Best,
Aaron

Thanks all! I'm probably going to return to recognizable targets for a bit. The Sharpless catalog is deep and frequently less than interesting. But it's still fun to try for new targets.

Hi Jim,

There's actually quite good detail in the image, but the three color channels are not lined up due to atmospheric refraction. I took your image and re-aligned the planes and this is the result:
